Default High bar question

Just picked up an 09 ec 300. I am now starting to set it up for my size and weight. My question has to do with the height of the handlebars.

I'm 6'5" tall so with the factory bars I feel very slouchy, not to mention my legs can't straighten past 45*. On my previous KTM I was running cr high bend with enduro engineering riser set (+25mm I think) and still not feeling comfortable. Is there a point of diminishing return with high bars? Any other tall guys out there with recommendations?

This is one of those ongoing forum debates, but I know that David knight and Chris birch both swear by original height bars with no risers and knight is similar size to you

Something to do with high bars shifting your centre of gravity backwards and adversely affecting handling

Default 2010 300

I have the GPR submount with Trail Tech bars. Trail Tech were the tallest with the least sweep I could find.

I also modified the pegs to lower them.

Tried a ton of bars. Found the Trail Tech X-bar to be the best. I'm 6'5

No

Assuming your pegs are the same as my OEM 2010 pegs.

Looking at the peg:

The pin rests inside a vertical tube in the peg. Pin has a head at the top, cotter pin at the bottom.

The vertical tube has an extension (away from the footrest area) downwards.

I cut off the tube flush on the bottom side of the peg and put it on the top side of the peg. This allows the peg to rest on the bottom frame bracket instead of against the upper frame bracket. I'm sure there is a footpeg mod thread on here somewhere....cuz I learned about it here!

I run Flexx bars, Enduro bend. It's the tallest they sell, plus rib an under bar damper which raises them about an inch further. Some say they are freakishly high. I am 5'10", but was having lower back pain, so went to standing straight up as much as possible and it solved my problem. Still trying to go faster though, and if I need to lower the bars I'll do it. Riding the AA class, any little thing can make a difference, so I'm open to change.

If your going to try the Trail Tech X-bars better get them on order. When I bought my first set they said theya re going to stop making them. Once I tried them I bought another set as a spare.
