Default Leaking tank

Good evening all. My first post as have recently joned the 'Gasser' gang with a 2002 EC300.
I have a problem with fuel leaks from the tank.
I have filled all the holes and purchased the genuine tank bolts from my local dealer.
The bike is a 2002 but with 2010 radiator panels.
Does the tank have a 'thicker' section where the 13mm bolts secure the panels ?? Are the 2010 panels a different shape to the 2002 version, could this be why the bolts go straight throught the tank and cause a leak ??
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you using the metal washers where the shrouds mount?

Thankyou for your reply.

What metal washers

The bike, unfortunately, was in a worse state than i thought and it is a learning process as i go.

The tank came with 2” wood screws in !!

The 2003 manual shows the 2 bolts (4.8 x 13mm) to attach the panels with a nylon washer ONLY on the rear (lower) bolt ??

It's a metal washer about 3mm thick, that snaps into any of the plastic mounting points. Keeps the plastic from getting smashed.

Uhh, 13mm wood screws only!!!

On my second bike someone had out KTM ones in, needless to say I had 4 big holes in my tank. I made 4 plastic plugs up and epoxied them in.

It sounds like the wood screws were too long and went into the tank. I have not had luck with glue on these tanks. You can try draining the tank, clean the area very well with brakes parts cleaner and then try to melt the hole closed with a clean soldering iron.

there are a couple GG tanks on eBay for reasonable money.

Many thanks for all your replies.

Finally fixed by melting some cable tie in with a soldering iron.

On to the next problem....
