GG EC300 or Husky Te300
I am looking to upgrade to a newer bike. I currently ride a 1998 GasGas EC250.
I have narrowed my list to the Gas Gas ec300 or the Husqvarna te300. Any thoughts? I am 5'10" 150lbs Experience: Advanced |

The TE forks SUCK and need work to be improved. Love my Zooks on the Gas, one of the best forks I have ridden. Gas has more racy aftermarket bling (like front and rear axle pulls, and FMF exhaust, v-force reed). In the looks department, the GAS is the hands down winner. The TE white plastics looks crappy and gets scratched up after the first 2 rides. The plastics on my Gas still look like new after a wash. My non electric start Gas is heavier than the electric start TE. Both have on demand dual map switches. I got my GAS 300 left over at a crazy good price, which is what pushed me over the edge. If I had to pay list price for both, I would buy the TE and put money aside for the 4CS forks. Last but not least the TE will hold much better resale. |

Very good review!
As you can see there are a lot of factors to considor. I think you have to make a list with highley appreciated and less. And what item can be customized against low costs and work. Suspensions can be a deal breaker. However, some people really likes a certain suspension, and the other hates it. Concerning the reliability from a gasgas we all know that it isn't the engine but the body work out. There are a lot of small details which are almost perfect, but need some work from the customer. |

1) Replaced 2 clutch MC's
2) radiators bent/broke very quickly and I attribute this to lack of stock bracing 3) water pump failure (twice) 4) missing bolts from factory 5) power valve shaft rattles un-mercilessly 6) terrible clutch chatter (until I replaced with Rekluse). Also something else to note about the TE. It is one of the few bikes on the market where you can shift without the clutch under FULL throttle load with exact precision. The Gas trans is notchy and you have to blip the throttle, but the GAS is not terrible compared to its competitors, its just the TE gear box is better than its competitors. |

You may want to through a Sherco in the mix. same WP's but better valving from what has been said amongst owners. Probably same price as the TE with better build and options. E-start built into the cases, electric power valve.... just to name a few.

95jersey, thanks for your reply. It really is giving me more things to think about and becoming harder to choose.
How are the huskies for taller riders? |
