Default EC 200 clutch grab

I have viewed 3 older models (up to 2003) in the last few days and they have all done a little jump forward when engaging 1st gear from stationery. Not stalling but if it was any worse I imagine they might have.

I know other dirt bikes do it, the last one was a 2 stroke KTM that ended up needing a new clutch. But my Husky does not do it. Question to Gasgas owners is - does your Gasgas step forward like this too? I spoke to a mechanic and he said they didn't do it out the box, but quickly did and people just get used to it, yet he could probably sort it. If it is indeed sortable, then I would have to do it.

I just want to know how many other owners have this niggle but live with it

Same. Every bike I've ever owned has some degree of "lurching" forward when cold and 1st is engaged. Some common sense judgement should tell you if it's excessive or not - such as how it reacts once warmed up a bit.

The kicker is whether you can start it in gear, pun intended. Baskets both inner and outer wear ridges plus steels cone causing drag. Over ten years dirt use it is likely. Obviously the only thing that matters is if it does it when gear oil is warm.

the grab on my bike get better when I adjusted the clutch so the plunger hit the clip when the lever is all the way out

the second thing I did which eliminated clutch grab was switch to amsoil 0w-40 oil, it took 2 oil changes but I no longer have clutch grab on my 200
