Talking 22-Dec-14 Cedar Creek Rip

Took advantage of the typical down time at work during this time of year and recruited a few of the usual suspects to head out for a winter rip in Tillamook. We decided to stage at Cedar Creek and just ride, hitting some of the favorite trails along the way. Our group of 4 included our riding Ninja...lol.

Headed up Deerfence and had the curse of following for filming bite me when a giant rock flew off the Katoom's rear tire and made mincemeat out of my headlight. Haven't been up Deerfence in a while and it definitely felt rockier than previous rips, but it's such an awesome trail to ascend.

From there it was over to DM Ridge and that fun, then up Cramletts and down Cramletts to DC. The view at the top of Cramletts was fantastic - perfect winter weather to be above the clouds with great views all around.

After finishing DC and on our way to the short section of Frankenstein, our buddy noticed his front wasn't quite tracking like it should. Yep, time to pull the wheel and change the tube. Huge thanks to trask-rider for both having a spare tube packed and helping with the install. He said to pay it forward and ironically that would happen in just a few days on the next ride we had out there (be posting about that in another thread...lol).

With that fun behind us (lol), we decided to keep heading west and enjoy Reid's Ridge, Musial Creek, and then jump the highway to see if logging had started at Jordan Creek (which it had...so we had to turn back). Prior to hitting Hwy 6, we stopped for a bite to eat along the top of Musial and then cleared a decent windfall toward the end of the trail.

No luck on the Jordan Creek side had us turn back toward Cedar Creek and hit some of the sections of Cedar Ridge followed by Frankenstein, Wolf Point, Outback, and Special Test. Quick rip along Bungee road and we were back at staging, close to 50 miles logged on an absolutely perfect winter day in the forest.

As usual, lots of video...still in the process of uploading most of it.

Ah, I'm envious of you both! Such beautiful places to ride.

It actually wasn't that bad out there Monday, peeled my rain jacket off as I was getting too hot once we were on the trails...lol. I think the recent cold spell and precip might make riding out in TSF dicey unless the snow level goes up a bit and it melts

Do you know if Hood River's under a bunch of snow now? I'd guess so given the weather the last few days.

How's the 3-hunny treating you?

SS109 - we're definitely spoiled here in the PNW; tons of areas to choose from with something for just about everyone. I jumped back into it in Tillamook State Forest and that's the area I enjoy the most, though getting over to China Hat in the high desert is a blast too. One thing we don't have is cacti - at least you have that over us

True! However, you can have all of it you want! Just tell me where to have it delivered.

Hey Brad,

I'm not sure about HR, but I'd assume it's snowed in now. It was actually really good conditions that day and we were able to get 35 miles in.

The 300 is a different animal for sure. I'm loving the motor. Lug city. Miss the handling of the 200 and Gasgas. A Gasgas 250 or 300 would probably be a good choice.

Finally had a chance to upload the rest of the vids if you need something to waste a bunch of time:

If you're looking for something short and funny, check out the 7th in the list...nothing like a short hill climb in the loose stuff
