or KTM part number: 54731034000 (alternate for most years 250/300EXC)
I found our local Yamaha dealer wanted twice as much for the same piece. Shop around. In the states they go as cheap as $10. |

I've been trying to jetting my ec 250 FR 2014. So far I have used different needles N1EF ,N2ZJ and now N3CW. My plan is to take maximum torque from carb. N1EF is rubbish, next is N2ZJ was good with 42 #3 and 175,but not very special on bottom end. N3CW pulls good from bottom, but only with 45 pilot and 178 main, if I go down on pilot ,quick acceleration will result in BOO AAAA! In teory witch needle will give max torqe and witch one will give best consumption?

150km out of a tank seems a bit of a stretch eh
In saying that, I routinely get over 100kms out of my 9.5L. Have a mate with a 15 250R, running the same jetting over the same loops, at the same pace. A few times now he's chewed through an extra litre and had to borrow 1/2 a litre more to get back while I haven't even touched reserve. He's also running taller gearing (a tooth less on the rear). |

Yes well, I'm quite gumbie too, that's why I get so long range. The 150 km is really easy track, like gravel trails in woods etc and not roosting in every corner, also no WOT for long times. I'm not very aggressive rider so I tend to take things softer and slower.

After some rides I'm so confuse, N2ZJ@3 42,180 pulls hard only from bottom with no top end, N3CW@3 45,180 will be ok after 1/2 part. Very few information about 250 2014-... jetting chart. In teory witch needle is for this bike H,W,J ?

In 1/2 clip variations from leanest to richest they are...
N89x=leanest N3Cx N3Ex N8Rx N2Zx N4Dx N3Vx N4Ax N6Mx=richest The N2ZJ is running a full clip and a half richer than the other. You're also using a leaner pilot with the leaner needle diameter, which may/may not be improving the bottom end response. You need to be methodical and compare apples to apples. The 14 250 I setup runs 42 NEDW#2 175 and gets good fuel economy and line linear power. With N3CW@3 45,180 you say it's OK after half throttle, but what is happening on the bottom end? Flat lacking power, or rough burble? I'd be inclined to drop to a 42/40 pilot, and see if it helps. |

Flat power delivery, especially on quick throttle opening, clean sound,no burble. So 40 pilot will be to lean=to flat, I think.

Alright, so why not try somewhere in between and see how it goes? Like N2ZJ#2? What results did that give?? (assuming you've already done this).
Or N3CW#4 If the 42 N2ZJ#3 gives good response off the bottom but no mid, have you tried leaning the main off a couple sizes to see if it helps? |
