12 EC 300 Airbox Rubbing on frame
Ive got about 4hrs on my new 300 and when washing it I noticed that on the frame is rubbing the airbox. Not sure if it will cut through but I am going to find a way to protect it. Just wanted to let everyone know would suck to get a hole there.

Mine too. I think we have to sort out some sort of frame protection for the airbox.
Cheers Mark

I'd smooth the plastic subframe with a file and bond a piece of rubber to the contact area. Thanks for noting this.

Maybe splitting a piece of fuel line and clinching it over the subframe spar will do the trick. Mine has minimal contact and is showing no evidence of wear on the air boot, but then I had the subframe off (mostly) and was careful on re-installation.

Mine is also doing this. It already hasa rubber peiece on the frame but the subframe hasn't so i will make one up for it out of fuel tube. I wonder how they missed this?

Probably under stress of the re design of the airbox.
The plastic subframe is bigger I reckon. Cheers Mark

Tried moving the boot around to try to make it not rub but did not have any luck. Only problem with putting something on the frame it would put more pressure on the air box and be worse than just the frame rubbing on the boot.

The subframe/air boot rubbing and the lack of clearance between the kickstand mount boss and chain were things I noticed when I examined at the bike for the first time. When I look at all the awesome engineering that went into the redesign, I have to wonder how they missed these details. Perhaps an outside consultant should be called in, like a proof reader.
I'm available. |
