Strange thing going on
I have a 2015 GG 300. Love the bike! Every once in a while for reasons I have yet to discover the exhaust note will suddenly become very loud and crisp along with a momentary reduction in power. It clears up in a second or two. Very erratic might not occurs for several rides then do it several times on a ride.
I thought the O rings at the exhaust spigot might be failing, replaced them. I do have a Lectron carb and HOH silencer otherwise stock and about 60 hours. Any thoughts?

Could be a momentary lean condition.

Power valve sticking open due to carbon build up.
Mine will do it too from time to time. JJ |

+1 on the power valve, my 13 did it when it was new.

Another vote for the powervalve sticking.
It was happening on my 2014 300 - the exhaust note would change just as you said. I found that it was happening over log crossings or other abrupt landings. I cleaned it up as best I could and it improved, but I am in the middle of a top end job and plan on taking it completely apart to get it cleaned. If I can find someone to bead blast some of the parts I'm going to do that.

Easy Off (or other) aerosol oven cleaner works great for cleaning carbon of of STEEL parts, just try not to use it on anything aluminum. I just cleaned the PV flapper and both drums with it. Spray it on, let it sit overnight, light brushing with a stainless brush, rinse with hot soapy water, and they look brand new.
I thought about glass beading the drums, but I figured the slightly rough finish would allow carbon to accumulate faster than the polished finish of OEM. Good idea for the flapper anyway. |

I use the wire wheel to clean it off after you disassemble it.

This is what I do too. Quick and easy and not all that messy.

Strange noise
Thanks for the replies.
I thought that might be a possibility (power valve). I have around 70 hours I will have to look into that. I was worried that it might be a air leak
