I googled it and it is U.K. legal classification that means the the vehicle is off the road and gives you a break on taxes/fees while it not in use. (?)

https://www.gov.uk/register-sorn-sta...d-notification

SORN = Statutory Off Road Notification.

Which means some of our brethren from the british isles will need to help him with his question.

Must be different in the us. In the uk for a car to be on the drive it must be taxed m.o.t and insured or you must sorn it ( declare it off the road) but I don't know if this is the same for keeping a bike in the shed behind the house??and what can happen if I don't sorn it ??

if you have and your name is on a log book yes, I left mine over month and got a snotty letter saying tax it or get a fine.
there clamping down on it now. Its just peace of mind to do it and saves you hassle, plus it takes ten mins if that on line.

Yeah youl be fine as long as you have a bill of sale proving the date you bought it. But to be honest I don't think youl here anything. A yrs tax dosent cost much so might as well tax it.
