Default Stalling at Idle

Hi guys.

2011 gasgas ec 300.
When riding last summer in Kamloops it was really hot. After riding hard up a hill and pulling clutch in to go downhill it would stall.

I turned the idle screw all the way in and it seemed to solve the problem, I idled a little higher and it was no big deal.
I am now realizing that it was a bandaid solution.

Ive installed a rekluce clutch and now it needs to idle properly, because if it idles too high the rekluce tries to engage. The guy who installed my rekluse said my carb settings were way out of tune so he fixed it. this guy has a good reputation for this kind of work.

After he adjusted my carb, i find i stall again like i did when it was hot last summer.

so i am supposing that i have a rich condition. i tried turning the mixture screw in as far as half a turn from buried but it still stalls.

Also, i notice that it almost has 2 idles. usually i run WOT then stop and id idles at 800rpm for arguments sake. Sometimes when i come off of WOT it will only idle at 500rpm, just barely holding on. 1 in 10 times it will stall.

Changed out the spark plug and it was kinda black and gunky.

Any advice?
Leaner pilot jet?
does this sound like a float bowl just barely out of spec, flooding the chamber?

Magic is in the needle.

You'll need to go through the carb and determine what you have in terms of
a) carb size: 36/38mm
b) carb model: flat cap with shallow bowl AS2 / threaded cap and deep bowl AS1
c) check the current circuits: pilot/needle and clip pos/slide number and if cut away or notched/main jet.
d) set the float based on the carb model
e) discuss baseline options: will need info re temps/elevation/etc.

Is your top end fresh? Worn piston/ring could be a contributing factor. Worn, leaky reeds, maybe?

Thanks for the responses.
Finally got around to tearing apart my carb.
Clip was on the top notch on the needle. I thought that was unusual.
Ill drop it down to 2nd.

Pilot is a 42 and Main 178.

I checked the chart, and my jetting specs seem very normal for sea level.
20-25C is a hot day here. Riding at sea level to 6 or 700m. running 50 to 1 ams oil dominator.

The tang on my float was perfectly flat. My float hight was about 4 mm. so I increased it to 6. It seemed like a pretty dramatic bend on the tang that I put on it. it doesn't sound like much but it sure felt like a lot for that little piece of metal. I had been wondering if it was letting just a wee bit too much or not enough into the chamber, but now I suspect that is was in fact starving for fuel.

I don't think that my top end would be worn out. only about 50 hours on the bike. only about half of those were hard hours.

Im gonna try to ride tomorrow and ill update you guys on the situation

So i went for a rip today, and it seems to be sorted out.
It did stall once, but other than that it was solid for a 2 hour ride.
Im glad and lucky it was sorted out one the first try.
