Interesting and I'm glad I'm not deciding what to order

250FSE Race has 2010 Yamaha motor vs. 06 for the non race version. Anyone know the difference between the 2 motors?

48mm Zokes on the Race bikes. Would have been nice to see 48's on everything IMO and 50's on race bikes (don't start on the seals thing please)

How cool you can get a 125 or 200 Six Day or Race model

Thanks you Clay and Jeff for getting it done!!

on the yam's... the 2006 motor was the last year of a wr with a steel frame. it also had an oil tank in the frame..
2007 was an aluminum framed bike with no tank in the frame.. so the oil system would be different between those two bikes..
neither was fi..
on the wr 450's (which i have an 06) it was kinda a "detuned 450".. supposedly lower compression.. different head... again not sure on the 250..

I did not know there was a race version of the '11 250F with a '10 motor!

Both yamaha 250F motors are the same dry sump design, in '07 they had to go to an oil tank as the alloy frame is not a resevoir. The differences I know of for sure are slighter tighter trans ratios, lighter flywheel, cam timing, and ignition. I've ridden both '03 and '07, but bikes were in different state of tune, so hard to compare.

I'm pretty sure I'm adding a new, smaller bike sometime next spring. I'll spend the winter thinking about it but either a 125 Race, 200 Race, or 250F/250F Race. I would imagine the standard 250F has the corked up GG muffler. The '10 250Fs that recently showed up had the FMF stuff right? So they were basically '10 standard models with the FMF exhaust? Either way the 250F option looks like it could get expensive.

Any idea of the spring rates for the bikes I mentioned?

I would assume any of the 250 F bikes arriving here would have the FMF silencer since it has the SA in it. I doubt GG is building their silencer with the sparky.

Clay... more info on the 250F Race 2010 motor vs. the 06 motor if you could please.

Yamaha didn't sell a 2010 WR250F in the states (to many leftovers but it's back for 2011) but did in many other countries. From a little research I can't find any drastic differences in the 2010 motor from 2006 but I got tired of searching. Looking at the specs for the 250F Race why would you even want the regular version.....except if there is a HUGE price difference.

Still need a bigger tank for this bike really bad.

I almost bought an '07 WR250F and I know the differences from the '06 I stated are correct. Are there more though? Maybe.

According to the matrix the standard bike has a GG stainless steel muffler. Some early bikes came with a really restrictive muffler that made them run like crap. My question is if this SS mufffler is the same cork that was on some of the '10 bikes, and do you have to buy the Race version to get the FMF exhaust.

I guess you can't complain about choice in the USA.
