Think I used Athena but I'd have been happy with Wiseco. Anyone with a name brand. I'd be a little concerned about some Chinese jobby free with my breakfast cereals!

Default No marks on my cylinder?

Need some help to work out what size my cylinder is. The bike is a 2003 EC200, and it is getting its 1st top end rebuild after sitting unused for 4yrs.

I read the quote that the marking should be on the back of the cyl, but GasGas uk tell me it should be below the exhaust port! But when I look at my cyl, there is no marking stamped in either location!

There is a pen marking on the base gasket face which says 5A or SA, and a small stamp to the side of the exhaust face but it looks like a logo JAP in a oval.

The only clue i can find is top of the piston is marked 62.45mm.

So from that should I assume this is an A piston, as I read somewhere that the sizes are 62.45, 62,46 and 62,46

The size is on the carb side of the cyl. stamped on the flat area. Should be an a,b,c or d. Keep looking it is there.

Its not stamped where it should be, but it looks like an A size.

Leo, most unusual for GoFasters. Mark and Steve have always been prompt to answer the phone when I call, and have gone out of their way to help me personally. Perhaps there is an email issue. Holiday season doesn't help either. Please try another media before going public next time, thanks.

Leo makes a good point based on his experience and seems to be trying to be helpful. I too have had issues with GoFasters and prefer Halls even when Halls has to go through GoFasters.

thanks, I was thinking I was going mad not being able to find any marking.

Are you concluding it is an A from the piston marking?

While not perfect, GF has kept the parts train moving from Spain to the USA so the brand would not die here. Just be happy you have the option to talk to and deal with(for now) the parts importer directly. Try that with KTM, been down that road.
