Silly question
I just bought a lightly used 2012 ec250
What is the proper fuel oil ratio? I've been running 40:1 but there is a bunch of oil coming out of the exhaust at the end of each ride. R Thx |

GasGas says 50:1, I run mine at 40:1. Once in awhile I'll get a bit of oil out the pipe but usually not bad.

Welcome to the GasGas family Kai!
Now about that question, you may as well have asked about US monetary policy The drooling that your new scoot is experiencing is likely the combination of many factors - being ridden too lightly, an oil with too high of a flash point, the FMF Q Stealth (spark arrestor design, packing volume), fat jetting, etc. It likely has very little to do with the 40:1 ratio you're mixing at. Search through the board for recommendations on how to resolve it, or just learn to wipe the spooge off after every ride and enjoy your new bike

Like Steve just said. Welcome aboard
Lots of variables that contribute, but most often people attribute the oil ratio to the spooge. If its that the jetting is rich (which is very possible, and also likely), then mixing with less oil actually makes the fuel content per combustion greater which = richer = lower combustion temps = even more drool. The best advice I can give is to pick a brand of oil, pick a ratio (I usually believe what the oil company suggests, after all, its their product, they should know it), and then jet to suit. We all have different choices here and you'll have to make yours. For me its Amsoil Dominator at 50:1ish. |

Thx guys,
I did buy the amsoil dominator, I will try 50:1 and see what that does. One thing I did notice was after some harder riding, the bike revs really high at idle, but when cold, it idles at normal rpms. Could this be a jetting issue as well? Thx Kai |

Have a gander at Jakobi's copious jetting threads ... you'll learn more than you could ever imagine about needles and jets and likely find the answer to your questions as well.
