Default Ohlins Rear Shock oil change and regassing

Is there a manual anywhere for servicing the rear shock ?
What tools do I need etc

I have searched the net but to no avail so far

Procedure wise, the following article pretty much covers the tear down and reassembly except for the piston reservoir.

I've never found a service manual for the Ohlins shock.

You may have already came across this but this is the only manual I found in my searches of the web.
Its basic stuff but may help.

Click on:
MX/Enduro/Off-Road shock absorbers
Trial/Off-Road shock absorbers
They are PDF files.

I do know that you need a special needle to insert to fill with gas.
I spoke with a friend who does alot of suspension work and he drills and taps for a schrader valve so it makes adding the gas more universial.

Have you tried this manual?
It was listed in our manuals section off our main page.

That manual (http://www.gasgasrider.org/ohlins_shock.zip) has nothing to do with Ohlins maintenance. Just theory of operation.

I just took apart my shock last week (first time), and changed the fluid. It's really easy, no special tools needed (other than the needle, gas, and regulator to charge the reservoir). It's like any other shock. The only tricky bit is to make sure you set the piston height/depth to where it was upon disassembly. Bleeding the shock is like any other.

I took a few photos when I did mine, so I could write something up if you're interested. I also measured piston depth if somehow that is lost.

I am the second owner of the bike, but the first owner kind of hacked up the shock. I am not sure how that happened as they are quite easy to work on.

Please do. I would be extremely interested in seeing what was involved in doing the ohlins shock overhaul.

Thanks

p.s. Mr Odonovan - if you don't have something constructive to add - please don't post.

Many thanks to "gaser" for this contribution. I'll add a link to it on the main website.
