Tech at the shop says it's detonation ... So I have some gas gettig ready in the garage with oct booster now ... So roughly 2 hours we will know for sure.. He says his makes the sane sound .. And this bike has a total of 20 hours on it.. I'll post back when I feel the fuel is all properly mixed ..

what does the plug look like? in the video posted, that bike is not pinging...

if yours is in fact pinging, i would check the timing - they have no problems running on regular low octane gas when timing is set factory...

Affirmative!

The stock engine is far from a highly strung race engine requiring high octane fuels. Built with huge tolerances to accept shite fuels all over the place.

I could understand pinging under load with lean jetting, but to ping on the stand? Either way interested to hear back on your results.

They are quite a noisey engine though.

My noise

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3iCzW...ature=youtu.be

The steady sound not the eratic silencer sound... sounds like a jack hammer.....

its not detonation.. so its Piston slap, OR thats a normal sound and mine is a loud engine..???

Again thank you all for your time!! I am racing this weekend and dont want to hammer on her for 2 hours and end up needing a new motor.

Did you wind the idle up to showcase the sound, or were you holding the throttle open a little?

I recorded some video of my bike idling today and showing some throttle. It definately makes some engine noise as well. It always has to a certain extent. Jetted crisp and runs strong.

First and foremost thank you all ..

The first 2 seconds in my video you can hear it best.

Jakobi, No sir I never touched the throttle. I n saying that I will make a movie just like yours tomorrow morning and post it.. Same movement and out side of my garage..

In all of my years rebuilding cars and lawnmowers I have never heard such a loud motor.. I would tear it down, but I am new to 2 stroke MX/Dirtbikes..

Choke on/off? Just started or warmed up and up to temp? What happens to the engine sound when you pull the choke? I'd be looking at using the idle speed screw to bring the idle down personally. Sounds like its racing. I get the same result when lifting the slide too far too. Racing and sounds like its going to blow up.

I've put considerable time and kms on my 300 and it hasn't blown. First top end at 70hrs and would have to check to see where i'm upto again on the second. (Checked: 150hrs total/80hrs on current piston. Distance 4400kms) You definately shouldn't need one at 20hrs.

Off topic: Average speed 30km/hr. Too many days spent jetting and riding around the yard!
