Post Front tyre hitting to pipe!!!

Let's try a new thread, because previous didn't get interest...

I have problem with my EC300 08 that the front tire is hitting the pipe pretty hard!!!

It happen about the last 50mm of the front fork travel.

Did anybody figured out what to do the problem?

If I shortened the first section of the pipe I think I might lose some torque at the bottom end

I know that I'm not alone with this problem, but maybe for example US bikes have some other pipe than OEM pipe with gas gas marks on it?

I live in Sweden and have had the same problem, along with at least one other GG owner. The pipe is incorrectly made, some turned out like that according to jofrab (the importer). We managed to get new ones from them, but we've only had our bikes 6 months. It's a problem if you're gonna ride in the winter with studded tires. Mine scraped the pipe clean just in the bend out from the cylinder and I hade maybe 30mm left on the forks.....

I know GG redesigned the pipe in 08 for more ground clearance and there were a bunch of people complaining of this problem with the tire hitting the pipe at full compression. I would bring it to attention of a GG dealer and see if they can get GG to replace it (which they should IMO) You may have to REALLY push the issue but what have you got to loose. The newer 08 and on US bikes come stock with an FMF Gnarly pipe that is a copy of a Messico pipe I believe and people seem to really like it. Prod# 025095

If the bike is a new leftover model you recently purchased it should be a warranty issue.

I have a EC250 '08 model which has the same issue. I just slightly rubs on the first curve whenever I land of a jump or G out. It is just touching, cleaning about 1 cm of my mud covered pipe. It is not really bothering me yet.

I would like to try out the new Gnarly though. Does the Gnarly fit with the standard or MX gasgas silencers?

They also come with a 90 series front tire, would an 80 series front tire provide the necessary clearance reckon?

Thanks for the info, I wasn't sure. This is the first bike I have had with that size front. Just haven't compared them yet. Hope Bridgestone makes the 403 in that size.

Basically the same symptoms as mine, it wouldn't be a problem if I wasn't in Scandanavia. 4 months a year is with studded tires.

I have an 08 250EC which was also scrubbing the exhaust pipe on jumps & G-outs and found it to be disconcerting even though the front wheel didn't seem to want to do anything bad.
I tried dropping my forks from 5mm above to flush with the triple clamps but found the steering a little too slow so I changed them back.
After I changed my fork springs from stock 42 N/mm to 45's to better suit my riding weight of 95kg I have hardly noticed them bottom on the pipe any more. Apart from this I am happy with the pipe as it has survived two seasons so far without being banged up (touch wood).
