Question 1999 ec300 needle suggestions

Hi, new to gas gas. can anyone suggest a needle for my 99 ec300. pwk 38, with a 185 main and a 42 pilot, #7 slide, clip 3rd notch,3 turns out, standard needle. It,s running ok, will climb anything, but its no wheelie machine, more smooth and progressive. Looking for a bit more kick THanks in advance for suggestions.
Needle is N1ED, think that's a bit richer than std

Ok, reading other posts, CCK seems to be a popular choice or at least a starting point. I take it this means an n427-48 type needle with a cck option from the chart. Are these still suitable for the early models (99) or is it more for the later machines. Cheers

The CCK needle works well. That main jet sounds a 2 to 3 sizes too rich to me unless you are riding in cold 0-30F temps. If you are riding in that cold of weather the pilot is probably too small. Have you checked the reeds to make sure they are in good shape and that the aluminum reed cage has not worn such that the reeds can not seal? If the reeds are good I would start with the needle and jet from there. You can get a pretty good idea of similar jetting from the Jetting Sticky in the carb section.

Cheers. Fitted DEP pipe and 250 silencer that came with the bike , grin factor has arrived. BIke now revs quicker and higher, and will lift the wheel with a snap of the throttle. Bike now coughs and farts on very small throttle openings, to about 1/8 on a constant throttle. will still pull from idle if throttle is cracked open and smooth once on the main jet. will try raising the needle and grab a cck for reference. I had previously upped the pilot from a 38 to a 42 to eradicate a not idling problem. air screw is now out 3 turns so maybe a size too much. I,ll keep tinkering and try a cck to see what effect it has, but it is making me smile a bit more now. Boysen carbon reeds and reed block in good condition. new rubber inlet fitted. It's a shame about the low throttle roughness but that may be a symptom of the DEP
