Default First ride 6dayz

Got put in a good enduring ride today on my 2011auto six Dayz.....awesome bike.

So what is up with the clutch. Why is it so grabby? It it an oil flow issue?

Rob

Mine isn't grabby but will squalk every once in a while. There is a long thread on the clutch from months ago and I think it was just a harmonics issue. It may have had something to do with oil flow also just can't remember. I know the bottom line was don't worry about it they a very tough and last a long long time. I also know Clay said the new 12's had a revised cover etc. that should stop the squalking. So which Six Day do you have?

play with the adjuster at the master cylinder. basically the lever throw needs to be as long as possible. and back the clutch lever stop way way out.

also - what fluid are you running in the trans?

i've never had one squawk yet. i have had grabby for sure though. adjusting the lever made it much better. it is also possible tht bleeding the system will make a better feel - but try adjustment first...

there's a thread for clutch issue - also i noticed my 07 has holes in the spring pockets for oil flow. the earlier models i have do not. if you watch the progression of changes with the basket/hub/etc it looks like gg has been progressively searching for a squawk fix...

The plates just need some "ranch abuse" and then they will behave

Read Berky Boy's post concerning this. I did everything he suggested (machined basket, drilled 36 holes in the hub, and started using Rotella), it helped tremendously. I made the holes in the inner basket about twice the size they were stock. No more noise and way less grabby.

My ride is a 300.
I was going to change out the fluid with Mobil red cap synthetic first.
I will look into adjustment also.
I only notice it when the bike is hot.
It seems like an oil thing.

Thanks everyone.

Btw...the bike is awesome! It holds the ground like velcro

There is a new clutch cover on the 12's that will fit the older models. It has a funnel kind of shape built into it that is supposed to channel oil into the clutch much better. I was told that this would help give the clutch lever a lighter feel and better longetivity.
