Default kill switch???

the kill switch on the 300 never work since I got the bike its the run type switch ud see on a road bike on and off.but the bike ran fine with the switch in on and off position..so I bought a new kill button the mx type.. so I went about fitting the new one..first I cut the two wires going to the old switch and crossed/joined them to see if it would kill the engine and it did not ..so I traced the two wires back to the ecu and there is another joint just before the ecu so I crossed and uncrossed um there and it still didn't kill the engine..so what do I do now?? I tried put the new swicht straight onto one of the wires going into the coil but the engine will only run with the button pressed so id need a normally closed switch for that method..so do I go and buy a on/off type switch and wire it to the coil. .. any suggestions????

The switch was you map switch, it should be left as a on/off switch. seems as though your kill switch was completely missing

That old switch is not a kill switch. That is your map switch (ignition curves). The black and green wires are the two you want for the kill switch.

the black and green were the wires going to the old switch I just cut um off the old switch then I joined um as a test to see if it would cut the engine with no success then I tried putting the black and green onto the new swicht notting happened that time either with button pressed/not pressed

so I need to get another on/off (map) type switch and the kill switch wont do unless I wire it straight to the coil..then why is the bike running without the map switch and still running when I cross the two wires going to the map switch even tried touching um off the frame to earth them..

What year is your bike? Let me look up the wiring diagram later this afternoon so I am sure I am not offering bad advice...
