![]() ![]() That looks like a great variety of terrain and trails, what happened to the Honda? Nice job on the water crossing, one of those sections looked pretty damn deep...lol. I dug the section with rocks too. I didn't get a solid count, but it looked like you had a big group of guys on the ride - always fun to get that many together for some fun in the dirt. Did you guys camp and ride three days in the same area, or did you head to different areas each day? Looks like a blast ![]() |

Terrain was sensational, there weren't any 'big' hills, the biggest climbs were only 100 metres or so, but some of the climbs were made challenging by the slick conditions.
The honda had an upside down moment and spat oil back into the airbox, so it was smoking like a 2 stroke for a few hundred metres. 28 starters on day 1, 19 starters on day 2. Group ride organised over the net, it was a 6 hour drive for me to get there and that was about average distance people drive to get there. We all arranged our own accomodation (coastal holiday town) and were led through the trails by the local bloke who organised the ride.

I knew and had ridden with maybe 5-6 of the other riders. All different levels of ability but all were competent enough to get through the day. I agree, unreal for our sport and that's why I made the effort to travel down there. Glad I did.

No it didn't have any problems. The breather pipe from the rocker cover fed back into the airbox. So whenever it had a little layover it would smoke a bit. All that smoke was from an extended upside down moment haha.
I was a bit worried going through that deep crossing the second time and came close to drowning it. It did pick up a small amount of water which partially blocked the pilot for a few hundred meters but after that all good. A shiteload of water got into the airbox though so I'll be sealing it up a bit better I think.

My airbox is sealed, but still fills up. Those ports on the side are like gills! Dick design.
After each creek I pull the duck bill out and watch a metric shitload of water flow from the airbox. What surprises me is how well the filter and oil repel it as it keeps on running. The bottom half of the filter always has a tide line on it and a heap of crap which gets stuck to it too. |
