Default Question about bars/clamps?

i am looking at getting a wider set of bars that i can fit all of my controls onto and a friend of mine would give me set of 7/8 bars for free, but i have protaper evo bars right now. what all would i need to change to make the 7/8 bars work, and/or would you reccomend the switch or not?

For what you spend on hardware to go backwards to 7/8" bars, you can get a set of 11/8" bars in a bend to suit you. What do you want to fit on the bars that does not fit now? When cutting bars (if neccessary), I always mount the clutch/brake masters first and work outwards, so I'm sure they will fit properly on the straight section.

the guy who owned the bike before me had the bars cut way down, and i cannot get my handguards to mount correctly. i was just wondering what kind of work it would entail if i was to do the swap, and weather or not it would be cheaper. but thanks! i was planning on getting another set of fat bars anyways, i just wanted to know what all would be involved in making the switch.

99% of hand grads do not just bolt on they need to be "fit"to the bars.If you have a bench vice and a large crescent wrench it is easy to bend them to fit.I have never had a pare that did not have to be fit to some degree some more than others.

the guards would fit perfect, were it not that the handlebars are an inch and a half shorter on each side than stock. there isnt enough space for the clutch and brake lines to pass over the clamps, and there isnt enough space for the levers to be angled properly.

You can buy "enduro bend" bars that have longer outer tubes on them.

I had the same problem on my older bike. The enduro bend bars had room for all my enduro crap.

bought a set of protaper contours off my girlfriends dad. should work perfectly. i just didnt have enough space to fit my controls, the clamps, and the guards on the old bars. we'll see how these work, but they should be just fine.
