I was expecting something a bit more revolutionary.

I would be lying if I said I was excited.... They lost their ability to be original..

This is clearly the brainchild of some marketing idiot who saw the Toyota/Lexus success, and figured that they could charge an extra $2K for blue plastic.
(I hate marketing idiots. Can you tell?) Where's the direct injection? That would be a significant differentiator. KTM just shot itself in the foot. Amazing. The guys who developed those new four strokes must be crying in their beer. blitz |

Apparantly these will not be available in the US but you never know.
Now I admit I have a real thing for blue and IMO these are beautiful bikes in the Berg color scheme. They also have CC forks which I don't think the KTM XCW's get. Add the new 6 speed tranny and stock 11 liter tank and that is a sweet bike I would have no issues owning. ![]()

from what ive been reading on ktmtalk, it sounds they made it because in europe alot of the husaberg dealers are not necessarily ktm dealerships, and if they want to sell a two stroke they have to get another brand of bike. so husaberg slapped some blue plastic and fancy parts on a ktm and are going to be selling it there. kindof like having a GMC dealership but not a chevy dealership, then slapping some GMC stickers on a few impalas and malibus so that they can sell cars without having to pick up chevy as a brand.

Husaberg is back in the box, not thinking outside on this one. Lay the cylinder down, wad the pipe up under the seat or direct inject so a conventional chamber is not needed and it would be something.

I really don't think this came from the Husaberg boys in Sweden. (As an aside, we're pushing a Swedish research job. One of the perks would be a visit to the Husaberg operation, which would be fun.)
I think this came from KTM, basically relabeling the XC/XCW as a Husaberg. As Skidad pointed out, some differences, but essentially the same bike. They own them, so why not? |
