Was there a DE version of the 300 in 2008?
I am very confused about the DE and R versions of the GG line. It seems that the DE or R bikes use to have upgraded suspension (ohlins) and some other Hi Perf items. Later year bikes look like they simply had a different ignition???
I do not see info. on the GasGas web page about the DE upgrade bike. Can anyone tell me if this was available on the 2008 model EN300, and if so, what the upgrades may have been? Are these worth more than a standard EN? Thanks for the help. I am very new to GG bikes, but I hope to purchase one soon and I am trying to know as much as possible about the line. |

The DE versions were built by the previous importer to suit the U.S. rider's racing style.

That said, some '07 ECs including mine came with a light 2K-2 ignition, which was the main difference. Mine came just like a "DE" of a few years ago. The designation "DE" no longer exists, but bikes of that or similar configuration do.

Would the only difference in a DE version be the lighter ignition coil with less output? |

Ushally a DE will have no lighting and a FMF exhaust system to cut cost down.

In more recent years, the GG bikes primarily came as EC versions with the heavier 2K-3 ignition and abbreviated wiring loom (for basic lights)... not the full blinkers, horn, etc. like euro bikes. The VIN, MSO, and graphics always indicate "EC" but a custom made DE version could easily have been done by the dealer (if the original buyer wanted it) or if he did it himself and wanted to distingish it as such. In any case, there is very little difference as you can see. Just pick up a recent year (2007+) and you will be all set with the latest design. With that all said, I would still ask the seller of the 2008 DE300 (I think you are inquiring about the one on KTMTalk) how it is really setup. A photo of the left side ignition cover would be easy to tell if it's "DE" or "EC". FYI... that's a good price with all of those extras listed on KTMTalk.
