Default 300ec on the road?

I'm back lurking again

I found a nice '06 300EC locally, fully dualsported and plated.

I was thinking it would be a near perfect bike and could replace the 2 bikes I have (DS XR400 & KDX220). I would use it mostly as a woods bike. But, I do have a few places to explore that connecting trails with some road is needed, and the 300ec seems just about perfect for those duties.

My main concern is I do have a trip planned in January to Mexico to do some riding. I would be riding for 4 days with 2-45 mile road/hwy stretches to do. Nothing high speed (55mph).

Could the 300ec be counted on to do OK for a trip like this? It is only a once a year trip.

Any specific concerns on a '06 300ec?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

You should be just fine for crusing dowm the road, the EC's are street legel for road use in many countries. I would make sure the jetting is not to lean before heading off though.

I do 60/70 km on road/highways every now and when returning from the woods, and friends of mine also use it on the road often. No problems at all, just be sure jetting is not too lean, don't ride it a WOT for long periods, and avoid closing the throtle completely when entering corners instead of fully closing the throttle, press the clutch and do some short throttle blips.

have fun,

j.
