Default Speedy Maniac & Derik in Montana

I got a text message saying that an international (Canada/USA-Phoenix) team of Gassers did quite well in Montana over the weekend. 5th and 6th, I believe.

I'd love to hear the details.

5th and 8th in 250A actually. Derik rode really well to a 5th place finish! He hauls on his 09 250 Racing! I got 8th. Would've been a little better had I not swallowed a bug in one of the specials (will post a report sometime when I get a chance).

Speedy,

Frank (Derik's dad) said that he camped next to you and said the Canucks were Grade-A Prime folks. As a result, Frank says I'm no longer allowed to make fun of Canadians (which still leaves me Quebec, if I'm not mistaken).

Derik had a close encounter with fame in the race last weekend when he tumbled into the trees and had Mr. Russell Bobbitt crash on top of him (which means at one time he was ahead of Bobbitt!!).

Thanks for the kind words. Frank and Derik (and the rest of their crew) are great people - friendly, nice and stoked on racing dirt bikes! Actually, I was blown away by the friendliness of everyone. The event was great and I definitely want to try another one!

Derik told me about his encounter with Bobbitt. Sounded like a case of an AZ guy not used to the trees!

We here in Phoenix don't have an intimate knowledge of trees. Mostly just cactus well away from the centerline.

We have to travel 120 miles to get to riding with trees (Flagstaff) and most of those are well outside the width of standard bars. I asked Derik if he was going to cut down the Gasser an inch or two and he poo-pooed the very idea.

Just got back from our vacation and a swing of rounds 6 and 7 of the National Enduro Series. Camped next to Steve and Victoria, her dad and brother in Montana. What great people, we had a wonderful time and what a fun race. Hope we can do it again.
