It is every bit as good as Gifford. The soil does get dryer at Mad river though being on the East side. There are some very tough trails here and if heights are not your bag some riders may not be comfortable. Some sections of trail are no wider than 5" and it is a long way down.

Thanks. over 3 days I saw only 3 other groups of motorcycles and 2 Mountain bike groups. Sooooo.... there is room on those trails especially the expert only Black diamond trails. But,as far as my house there is no way you could stand to live with me, I would always be taking your Gas Gas spare parts! LoL!

Reverup, It has been probably ten years since I rode that end of the system. I have been concentrated on the Eniat side the last couple years. The Mad River/Eniat area is one of my favorite areas in Washington. One of the propossed travel plan maps had lots of new stuff slated to open out of the Eniat, one can only hope for more of it. On a sad note none of the maps had Duncan Hill open which has become one of my favorite trails around.

Hey Paul, Ya unfortunately back in 06 I believe the new trails plan was squashed with great opposition from the greenies.
I certainly hope for more. But I ain't holding my breath. I plan to ride as much as I can before its of limits to us.

I have rode out of the Entiat side but it has been a couple of years for me. It adds another 2 hours to my 3 hour drive.

The Mad river side definitely is getting more pressure. The more moderate loop trails like Alder Ridge and the lower stuff near the camps are far more whooped and wide than I remember. But they are still better than most busy areas best trails.
