That may have been the contour plus,, or they are just high,, smoking crack high.. got mine for $140..1080hd as they are clearing the hd out.. they are replaced by the new lineup.. Roam, GPS-HD and HD plus.. The Mac imovie program is very easy to play with,, you can toss it together in minutes.. want it to look really good takes some time to be creative.. but it lays it out so user friendly I think my 80 yr old mom could make a movie.. ok.. maybe not.. Its way easier and quicker than the windows movie maker on my wifes computer..

It was very nice, looked like an alloy case. One thing I would absolutely not want is the GPS feature.

Yeah, I have become a big Mac fan after getting my '11 Macbook Pro, and I make a living with PCs. iMovie '11 is easy, its just the assembly of all the different clips from a day out thats the work. Trimming one up is no big deal.

I don't encode from iMovie and the Apple H.264 Codec. Handbrake or MPEG Streamclip with X264 is better, faster, and more flexible. Sometimes I encode the final to DNxHD on the Mac, which is low compression cross platform codec, then take it to work and run it through the PC version of Handbrake to H.264 on my quad core Xenon box. That thing bangs it up in no time without the fans even speeding up. My MBP i7 is fast but throws a lot of hot air.

I believe this is a GoPro on my buddie's helmet. The non fish eye lense along with the chest mount perspective actually shows a bit of the abuse taken when riding Pat's Trail.

There's a hundred videos of this same trail on youtube but none of them show the depth and contours of the rocky trail terrain like this one. And atleast you can tell it's a hill, with the helmet top fisheyes you really can't.

I like that view, it's a perfect blend of bike, rider and terrain.

I ordered the 3.6mm lens. Should tighten the view up nice. BTW, the new Hero2 has selectable FOV in 170, 127, and 90 deg.

Yes it will. Also, you can mod the camera case so that you can screw any lens you want on/off the mount without disassembling the camera. All you have to do is hook it up to a TV for live feed and focus it.

FWIW, the HD Contour specs show a 135 deg FOV. The GoPro Hero in 1080p is 127 deg, 170 deg in 960p, 720p. I think they realized that and added the selection option and 90 deg in the Hero2. The 170 is good for looking back at the rider, parts of the bike, etc. All that artistic stuff. The 3.6 should be somewhere around 90 -100 deg FOV.

I got the 3.6mm lens and installed it. Hardest part was focusing it with the camera still apart, temporarily held battery in with a rubber band. I trimmed the bezel back so I could refocus or change the lens without any more disassembly. This then made the fit in the housing a bit sloppy as the bezel is used to locate the camera square in the housing by its snug fit in the dome well. The lens does not interfere. I added an oring on the lens to snug and square up the fit and now its fine. Walking around the house, the image looks great, with a very natural viewing FOV. I'll probably get to use it skiing before riding, and it looks very promising for both.

That is cool!! Can't wait to see the videos! I was going to ride today,, but we got hit with "unexpected accumulation". As in the weather guy completely got the "clear night" wrong. Snow squalls left us with sub 20's and several inches of white crap. Up the road just a few miles they got almost 6" at big boulder ski resort!! Great day to be a skier. Me,, gonna work on the house, bike and tend to the fire. And I have seen a few gopro's now that only had 170 lense. That's almost nauseating to watch. Still not happy my contour is a 135,, they used to be a 110.
