GasGas USA National Enduro Team Update

With three of the ten rounds of the 2009 AMA/ReKluse National Enduro Championship series in the books, Team GasGas USA is on a mission. By competing successfully in multiple classes of this prestigious and highly competitive series, we aim to demonstrate the performance, reliability, and customer support available to all who choose GasGas as their favorite brand.

Riding the new GasGas EC300 “Racing” model, Jake Fiola continues to impress as he now has a commanding lead in the highly competitive Open-A class. Fiola narrowly missed a “Top-15” Overall ranking last year having crashed out of the next-to-last round and states his goal this year “To win the Open A National Championship and finish inside the Top-15 Overall to earn a AA ranking for 2010”.

Reigning Super Senior-A National Champion, Curt Comer, got off to a slow start in the first round of the series which kicked off January in the sand whoops of South Carolina. Comer noted “We have some new competition in the class this year adding to the list of former National Champions, ISDE veterans, etc. already in the division – it’s going to be a fun but challenging series!” Currently fourth in the standings, Comer is determined to take his GasGas EC300 to the front, again proving the competitiveness and durability of the model.

2008 250-B National Champion, Rick Fiola, moved up to 250-A this year riding a GasGas EC250. Rick also got off to somewhat of a slow start in South Carolina, but is steadily clawing his way through the competition. Keep an eye out for what we expect to be a “come-from-behind” story in this class as the series unfolds.

The team was dealt a blow early on when Cameron Marburger, our contender for a 200-A Class Championship, crashed in the last section of the South Carolina race breaking his femur. Cameron was air-lifted out, operated on, and is now recovering from this unfortunate accident. We continue to wish him well and are anxiously awaiting his return.

Team Manager, Rich Smith, has been busy working with suppliers and sponsors associated with the team, helping the riders with their bikes, and handling team logistics. The official GasGas USA team pits are open, and assistance is available as needed, to all riders on the brand.

Next up is the Cajun Classic in Forest Hill, LA – the fourth round of the 2009 series. Stay tuned!
