Default Installing Vapor on EC300?

Hi,

I just ordered Trail Tech Vapor computer (75-102 kit) for my 2010 . Anyone has been through the installation?

- Issues with speed sensor installation?
- There are 4 options for RPM sensor installation. Which one should I choose for my bike?
- Details on the power installation?

Thanks,

Burhan

The sensor should screw into the caliper carrier. Kit 75-102 should be what you need. The cable should look like this

Question Speed sensor help please

HI there - I hope you can help.

I have an 06 EC300 with standard speedo and dash (rectangular one).
When I bought it there was no speed sensor wire.
I need to get one - will the trail tech one which you mentioned above fit into the OEM speedo unit (I understand I may have to re-connect using a different multi-plug as they are probably a different config) but do you know whether they would 'talk to each other' - in other words whether the signal sent by the Trailtech sensor could be interpreted by the OEM speedo unit ??

Thanks a lot in anticipation.

Baz

I used the new style sensor on my '05 450. Worked, but I have a stronger magnet on the wheel, dont know if that matters for the trailtech sensor. I installed the stronger magnet when I did a sensor by myself.

I noticed the other night on my 2T 06 EC300 that the vapour gauge back light does not work unless it's hooked to a 12V source

I have the Vector and just spliced into the headlight wires. Quick and easy.

I think the Vapor is what I have on my 2011ec250. Can anyone tell me why it regularly shuts itself off while I'm riding? Makes it fairly useless since the distance traveled and other values reset.

mine tends to suddenly have everything displayed at the same time, also tempted to ditch it and install a simple hour meter since i ride with a gps anyway

The sensor is just a reed relay - pass a magnet by it and the contacts will close momentarily. The speedo units all just count the "closed contacts". Even a bicycle one will do, if you can find one that fits. I actually have a bicycle unit which uses the OEM pickup.
