Default Rear disk protector choices

What's available?

Scott's makes a beauty but what are some other options?

Scott's seems like the best one. The others I have seen only bolt to the swingarm. I don't think you want that.

I was looking through one of the rags and noticed that T.M. Designworks had a plastic RMS (return memory) rear disc guard. Only problem is that it bolts to the swing arm. But then again it way not break off.

They don't bolt onto the swingarm. They actually bolt to the stock brake carrier. Although I went that way, many folks find that they break off tabs. I figured if I did that I would buy the Scotts.

I had a shark fin that bolted to the carrier....the tabs broke. I'm planning on putting a Scotts on next year.

Skidad,

If you can't swing the coin for the Scotts, just get a generic Moose or MSR shark fin, and have it TIG welded to the carrier. Full length bead, both sides, around the tabs. Relatively cheap and if it does bend, a tire iron in the slots will bend it back in seconds.

Ballard's Racing here in Australia have a good disk protector (suits XR's)that bolts onto the original brake carrier. Pretty cheap too. I will post a website
