No pot stirring.

Everyones knowledge on these bikes is limited. Even at the factory. It's almost as if someone is just slapping Gas Gas stickers on these without the factorys knowledge. Other than Jim Snell, I have yet to run into anyone who knows anything authoritive on a Gas Gas smaller than 125cc.

I think a central clearing house where those of us with experience with the Gassers under 125cc, trials, enduro or mx bikes, could get together and compare notes would be useful.

The trials guys probably have the most experience with them since the 50 and 80 have been around for a while in trails clothes.

Some "official" support for the minis out of Spain would be cool too.

Todd. I wish you could talk to Mr. Snell and invite him to join the Forum.
He would be a great resource for all of us here.
The 2-3 times I have talked with him on the phone. He has been a poster
child for the term, "Customer Support". So very helpful and generous with
his time. He is my "Go to" guy for everything on my girlfriends Pampera.
Like Mr. Cook @ Smackover. You better have your cell phone charged
up before you call him.
Thanks all.

and the '06 Gasgas MC65:

Thanks bergerhag, my research continues.

Mark, Steve or Dale-- Please let Jim Snell know we'd like him to pop on here with some mini wisdom one day.

I know I'm kind of hijacking this thread and we haven't really answered the original question that started this thread...

But, from what I can tell, the EC50boy and MC50 have Franco Morini motors with Gas Gas specific modifications. I know my EC50boy is a Morini with Gas Gas mods. The EC50boy also has a Gas Gas frame.

The MC50 has what appears to be a Conti RX 50 frame and "Gas Gas-ized" Morini motor. The MC65, as pointed out by bergerhag, is similar to the Conti 65 with a "Gas Gas-ized" motor (Morini as well?).
Does anyone know if Derbi and Conti use a Morini for the 65?
Gas Gas has obviously modified the motors to "Gas Gas-ize" them.

I'm just guessing, but my bet is that the EC and SM Rookies have Gas Gas frames and Gas Gas modified Morini motors in them as well.

This is all conjecture and speculation based on wrenching my EC50boy, flipping through parts books and photos, but it's more than we have now.

Plus, all my drivel may get us a MiniGasser forum.

I am pretty sure Derbi makes their own engines.

A nice fact, the MC65 has a 65W lighting coil installed stock, all you need is a voltage regulator and some lamps. Maybe one could dual-sport it..

oops, Sorry Steve. I believe I am the poacher that hijacked your thread
in the first place.
I tried starting my own thread awhile ago, but, it did not take off
like this one has.
At some point I need to call Jim Snell and ask him how to put a bigger
high performance cylinder on the GasGas SM50. Hebo may be the
source for an after market kit.
Thanks all for your insight.
Jeff, So. Cal.

I have a Gas Gas 50cc quad. Lo and behold, it's no Gas Gas at all either, it's a Hyosung!
