Sach rear shock piston vs bladder

I have searched the forum and have found some info on this topic but have found no thread comparing the two.

I am about to rebuild my 2010 EC 300 Sach rear shock with a Race Tech Gold Valve.
I am familiar with setting the piston height so that's no concern.

Will I see a performance gain with a bladder conversion? Reduced heat/fade, better small bump compliance, etc.

Some people will tell you they prefer the bladder. Its believed that its more responsive (doesn't need to overcome the stiction like a piston does). I haven't tried them back to back with no other changes so I have no idea, but IMO there is nothing wrong with a well serviced floating piston. They're used in high level forks, as well as other top range shocks so I'm sure they can't be too bad.

Imho it's a noticeable improvement on the Sachs, and easier to service it with a bladder

Bladders typically offer better initial response and easier service but can have issues with nitrogen migration requiring more frequent overhauls. If you decide to go with a bladder the RaceTech is as good as any.
