Default FSE oil screen cleaning

I've read somewhere that it is adviceable to routinely clean the oil screen on the FSE engine. Is it safe to just open the bottom oil sump cover and clean it? (After the oil is drained, of course).

There is nothing mentioned of this in the service manual. The workshop manual says 'clean' when you are reassembling the engine after a complete teardown. I don't do that very often . There's no risk things fall apart when loosing the cover?

Yes just undo the plug on the side near gear selector. Be careful with screen as it is plastic and has o-rings to seal it.
Clean with degreaser works best I feel.
Reassemble putting screen fully in first then carefully screwing plug back in.

bergerhag. Did your screen have any metal objects in it? I would also like to purchase a magnetic drain bolt for the frame down tube. Does anyone know where I could get one?

Opened at 30h, all clean. Have seen some debris on the magnetic plug, nothing that worries me.
