Default 2005 wild hp 300cc engine interchangable cases

I bought a 2005 wild hp 300cc engine. I believe this is the counter balanced engine. The ignition side of the engine is wider than my 2011 engines. One of the head stud holes has been broken off the cases. the swingarm bolt hole is smaller than the 2011 engine.
Will any of the lower end of this engine fit in newer cases? I can have the cases welded and drilled out for the swingarm bolt, but I'm not real excited about the wider ign side. I would like to use the 2011 ign parts.

my plan was to rebuild this motor into a 250cc engine to swap into my 2011 ec200.

Just thinking out loud...get into the online parts manual and start checking numbers. GasGas hasn't changed much with the basic design of the motor in years. I don't know which year it was, but the swing arm bolt did change size along with the cases.

There used to be more guys on here that had the 300 Wild Quad that could confirm if the motor was counter balanced.... I also remember that guys would part out a quad for some reason or another and folks would fight for the counter balance parts / motor.

I think GMP would know, but he is not here much if any anymore.

The next best person I'd turn to is Jim Cook, he was the guru as well on all the older bikes. Try shooting him a PM, if that doen't work, PM and I'll see if I have another contact info on him.

That Wild HP motor could very well drop right into my 99 frame

Good Luck...I hope I was able to get you pointed in the right direction.

Beside the "hump" on the flywheel side which was a staple of the GasGas motor for many years. The newer cases have the hump removed, more refinded and smoother.

I have never seen a counter balance motor in the flesh. I am pretty certain that if you remove the ignition cover there should be a area where the "hump" is that is blank.....meaning semi machine marks where the balance shaft bearing would be.

I am basing this purely from my motor a what is behind the ignition cover.

I'd try a search on the counter balanced motor and see what comes up.

I think Cruiser here on this site has a counter balance motor from a 97 or 98 EC.

I would agree with Zman. The area I was refering to is filled with what looks like a seal / bearing / counter weight.

The counterbalanced engine should be worthwhile. The quad motors were just a carryover of the early engines that had Ducati electrics. If the crank end taper matches a newer crank, perhaps you could adapt a 2K2 inginition and add a flywheel weight. I 've read somewhere that the 2K3 will not fit in. Also there was a frame tab change around 2003-2005 that will prevent the use of older cases unless a new frame is altered to match.
