Default PWK 35mm on an EC125

I recently purchased most of a 2003 EC125 for my son. One of the missing parts was the carb. The thought of putting a 38mm carb on a woods 125 did not make sense to me so I started looking for other 2 stroke 125 carb options. I purchased a 1995 Kawasaki KX125 Keihin PWK carb off ebay for $85.

I was surprised when I compared it to a 38mm and found out that the 1995 KX125 used a 35mm PWK which has a slightly smaller body including smaller inlet and outlet fittings. FYI the smaller carb has a little more room which is nice.

I contacted Boyesen and purchased a RB-10 rubber inlet fitting for $7.95 which is the proper size for the Rad Valve and also the 35mm PWK carb. The air filter boot side was a little loose but, it tightened up fine with the clamp.

The stock kx jetting was pretty close with 42 pilot, 160 main and 3 needle clip position. I found that it was slightly lean on the bottom and mid range. The best jetting seems to be a 45 pilot and 2nd needle position from the bottom.

I was initially concerned that the 35mm carb would be too small and it might limit top end but, this bike really rips in the mid range and top end.

At low rpms the bike starts and idles fantastic. The air screw is responsive and I honestly wish my 3 other larger GG bikes idled this well. It has very good low rpm manners for a 125.

As an update, the stock KX125 jetting works great for hot summer days.
